How does radon get into my house?

How does radon get into my home?
Detailed image of how radon seeps into a homeBecause radon is a gas, it can sneak into your home through the tiniest little cracks, cracks too small for you to see. Since radon comes from the soil and rocks in the ground, it usually gets into our homes through the basement or foundation — the part of your house that sits underground.
Any little cracks in the foundation or basement floor and walls will let radon in, and so will leaks in seals around basement windows or sump holes, used to help get rid of water, in the basement floor.
